What Doctor Should Treat Me For My Motorcycle Injury

By Brett Haworth

I’ve represented motorcycle riders in Indiana for over 25 years, and today, I want to talk about a question I receive a lot from clients: Which doctors should I seek treatment from for injuries I have sustained in a collision?

And the simple answer to that is another question: Which doctors in their professional disciplines are best suited to address your medical concerns?

What’s Most Important

What’s most important is that you seek the treatment you need to get well and that you’ll be comfortable with and have confidence in your doctor and your doctor’s treatment plan for you.

Be Your Own Advocate

You should be an advocate for your own care and be aggressive with the doctors and your treatment. This means you have to speak up. If you are receiving treatment over a period of weeks and you’re not feeling any better, say something to your doctor.

What You Must Do

Have them reevaluate both your diagnosis, your symptoms and the treatment plan to address your concerns. Perhaps something new has developed or they have missed something in the first go around of their diagnostics.

In any event, be vigilant, be an advocate for your care and seek the care that you need to recover fully from your accident and your injuries.

As always, if you want to talk about anything, you can give me a call or reach out to me. We’ll get together and I’ll walk through everything, make sure you have what you need and that your rights are fully protected under the law.

Stay safe out there, enjoy the ride, then we’ll talk again later.
